PRP Knoxville

The secret to radiant skin is much closer than you think. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) are the keys to natural skin and hair rejuvenation, and they’re right there in your blood. By applying concentrated solutions of these powerful blood by-products to the skin and scalp, something magical happens. The body’s natural healing/regenerative process kicks into high gear and produces amazing skin and hair benefits that’ll have you falling in love with your results. At Culture Aesthetics & Wellness, we can’t brag enough about these phenomenal treatments for skin and hair rejuvenation in Knoxville and East Tennessee.

How does PRP and PRF work?

The platelets that are within the plasma component of your blood contain growth factors, which stimulate the skin’s tissue repair and regeneration as well as collagen and elastin. When injected into the desired treatment area, these substances lead the charge in producing skin and hair that’s healthier and more youthful looking.

What are the benefits of PRP & PRF?

The concentrated regenerative properties of PRP and PRF have many benefits, including:

  •     Tissue rejuvenation/regeneration
  •     Improved skin tone and texture
  •     Diminished fine lines and wrinkles
  •     Boosted collagen and elastin production
  •     Minimized pores
  •     More abundant hair growth
  •     And so much more!

How are PRP and PRF extracted from the blood?

A serum containing these amazing human growth factors is separated from your blood (which we acquire from a simple in-office blood draw) in a centrifuge then carefully injected into the treatment area. PRF is separated using a different angle and lower spin speed than PRP.

What’s the difference between PRP and PRF?

While there are some similarities between PRP and PRF, there are a few differences that may make one a better option than the other depending on your goals. PRP requires more blood to be drawn than PRF. PRP is spun in the centrifuge at a higher speed, which effectively causes all of the heavier cells in the blood (such as white blood cells and stem cells) to collect in the bottom of the test tube. The lighter platelets and plasma subsequently collect in the top part of the tube. The PRP is then collected and injected into the treatment area. PRF is spun at a lower speed so the layers of blood do not separate out as distinctly as with PRP. This allows some white blood cells and stem cells to remain within the platelet layer and be collected for treatment. Due to that, there are generally more healing factors within PRF as compared to PRP. Overall, both have the potential to create amazing results.

Are there any side effects from PRP or PRF injections?

Since it’s your own blood, the risk of you having an allergic reaction is unlikely. Following treatment, you’ll likely have some redness and mild swelling at the injection sites that may last about two to four days. There may even be some slight bruising for about 24-48 hours. PRP and PRF injections do not require any downtime, so you can resume your normal activities after your treatment.

What results can I expect from PRP or PRF injections?

Individual results will vary based on a number of factors, including the depth of the injections, your overall skin health, the number of sessions needed, and the size of the treatment area. Most people will be able to notice some improvement in their skin very soon after treatment. In many cases, the skin becomes smoother and more radiant in about a week with even more improvement over the course of about three to six months.

How many PRP or PRF treatments will I need?

The number of treatments needed for best results depends on the degree of your individual skin or hair concerns. There are many cases in which patients experience improvement after one to four treatments, but four to six treatments may be recommended to help you achieve your most desired aesthetic goals. We’ll tailor a treatment plan just for you at your consultation.
