Laura is our Master Esthetician at Culture. She’s an expert when it comes to facials, laser treatments, microneedling, dermaplaning, chemical peels, extractions, medical-grade skin care products, and several other beauty offerings for our East Tennessee clients. Whatever it takes to get your skin where you want it to be, Laura takes pride in being your trusted guide every step of the way.
Though born in Upstate New York, Laura has proudly called the Knoxville area home since the age of 6. Growing up, she always had a thirst for trying new things, which she still delights in to this day.
After graduating high school, Laura wasn’t yet sure which direction to take with her career. She started out at Pellissippi State Community College studying interior design but soon realized that field of study wasn’t a fit for her. After a bit of coaxing from her mother, Laura began seriously contemplating what would bring her the most fulfillment. It didn’t take long for her to draw from her own experiences with troubled skin and set out on a new course aimed at aesthetics.
“I always struggled with my own skin as far as acne,” Laura said. “I would try so many different things. I was finally able to get my skin to a point where I was happy with it. Those experiences definitely helped lead me down a new path.”
Laura enrolled in the Tennessee School of Beauty’s nationally accredited Esthetics Program and was instantly hooked. After completing her beauty education, Laura dove into the industry wholeheartedly. Now, after more than 10 years in the dermatological realm, Laura knows there’s a fit for virtually all skin issues and concerns, whether that involves a subtle approach, pulling out all the stops, or any level in between.
“I think just knowing that there are options out there, no matter what the issue, is very important,” she said. “There are so many different approaches now that’s there’s bound to be a way.”
As a self-proclaimed “fixer,” Laura especially loves the science behind all the aesthetic offerings available at Culture and being able to dive deeper into finding the perfect solution to give her clients the results they crave, which can be as unique as the person sitting in her treatment chair.
“My niche with my clients is that I like to have a personal conversation with them,” Laura said. “I want to know about their social life, hobbies, time commitments, and things like that. It’s all to figure out what path is going to get them where they want to be based on their lifestyle, and that’s different for every person. I just love the beauty of all the options and working one-on-one with someone to develop a customized treatment plan to achieve their goals.”
At the end of the day, it’s all about giving the client that special kind of happiness that comes from looking your best.
“The biggest takeaway with my job is just being able to give people that confidence that has them feeling good in addition to looking good, no matter what it is that bothers them,” she said.
And no need to ask what her favorite treatment option is.
“I get asked all the time what my favorite treatment is,” Laura laughed. “I don’t have just one favorite. I think having a variety of tools in your toolbox to help a client is what it’s all about.”
But she is quick to point out her favorite thing about working at Culture, however – the people.
“From co-workers to clients, we just have such a good thing going here,” Laura said. “It’s such a great atmosphere and such positive energy. We’re all passionate, like-minded people.”
Outside of Culture, Laura and her husband spend as much time as possible with their two young children, much of it outdoors enjoying all the beauty East Tennessee has to offer.
